Pinatubo odds-on for 2,000 Guineas glory

15 runners have been declared for opening Classic

Pinatubo is odds-on to win the delayed 2,000 Guineas on Saturday.

UK racing returned on Monday and Newmarket will host the first two Classics of the season this weekend.

The 2,000 Guineas is up first and Pinatubo heads the betting at 10/11 after 15 runners were declared today.

Elsewhere, Aidan O’Brien has four horses looking to challenge the favourite, Arizona and Kameko the likely contenders at 6/1 and 7/1 respectively.

“Pinatubo proved unbeatable in six starts as a 2-y-o, and the betting suggests he will carry that dominance into his Classic season,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“Although the last runner to be sent off as odds-on favourite in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas, Air Force Blue, could beat only one home in 2016, so we’ve not given up hope of getting a result on Saturday.”
