Chelsea v Arsenal betting tips: Blues buoyant under Tuchel
Premiership preview and odds for Wednesday’s match
Chelsea may already have half an eye on the FA Cup final at the weekend but they can take another big step towards a top-four finish in the Premier League by beating Arsenal in Wednesday’s London derby.
The Blues came from behind to beat fellow Champions League finalists Manchester City on Saturday and have plenty of momentum under Thomas Tuchel.
Arsenal, in contrast, are set to end the season with nothing to show for it with a European place almost certainly out of reach and their Europa League hopes ended by Villarreal last week.
Wednesday’s match is live on Sky Sports and kicks off at 8.15pm as we highlight a few potential Chelsea v Arsenal betting tips.
Chelsea v Arsenal match odds
Very little has gone wrong for Chelsea since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard in the Stamford Bridge hotseat and the Blues are understandable favourites at 8/11 to make it five wins and a draw since the surprise defeat by West Brom in early April.
The west Londoners are through to the Champions League and FA Cup finals and their confidence ahead of both can only have been helped by the way they came from behind to beat City 2-1 at the weekend.
Arsenal were 3-1 winners against West Brom but are 12 points behind Chelsea and have lost eight of their 15 games against teams currently above them in the table.
Chelsea v Arsenal head-to-head
This match could prove a decent gauge of how much Chelsea have improved under Tuchel given they have lost the last two meetings with Arsenal.
Lampard’s team had the chance to go second on Boxing Day but slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium, when they were 3-0 down inside an hour before Tammy Abraham grabbed a late consolation goal.
Arsenal were 2-1 winners when these teams met in last season’s FA Cup final and over 2.5 goals has paid out in seven of the last eight meetings.
Arsenal: Leno, Gabriel, Holding, Chambers, Saka, Ceballos, Elneny, Smith Rowe, Martinelli, Willian, Pepe.
Chelsea duo Mateo Kovacic and Andreas Christensen are ruled out and face a race against time to be fit for Saturday’s FA Cup final.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta may need to make changes after saying his team had “some injuries” against West Brom.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged a brace in last season’s Wembley showdown and was an unused substitute against West Brom at the weekend so could feature here, when he is 11/2 to open the scoring.
He will need to find a way past Edouard Mendy, though, with the Chelsea goalkeeper having kept 16 clean sheets in the Premier League this season – just two behind Ederson of Man City. Chelsea are 5/4 to keep a clean sheet and 7/4 to win to nil.
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud could come up against his former team if Tuchel opts to rotate his strike force, as could Arsenal winger Willian after his late goal against West Brom.
