Liverpool v Crystal Palace betting tips: Salah and Reds need big finish
Preview and odds for Sunday’s match
Roy Hodgson’s last match as Crystal Palace manager sees him return to Anfield where Liverpool are expected to confirm their place in next season’s Champions League.
An upturn in form for the Reds and Leicester’s recent slip-ups means Jurgen Klopp’s men will almost certainly secure a top-four finish with a win due to their superior goal difference.
Sunday’s match is live on Sky Sports and kicks off at 4pm as we highlight a few potential Liverpool v Crystal Palace betting tips.
Liverpool v Crystal Palace match odds
Liverpool have come good just in time to get into the top four with seven wins and two draws since their back-to-back defeats at home to Chelsea and Fulham in early March.
They have had to rely on Leicester dropping points but having now gone above the Foxes, they are expected to get the job done as 1/6 favourites here.
Liverpool have been much improved in front of goal in recent games, scoring 11 goals in four straight wins.
A home win and over 3.5 goals is available at 23/20 but Palace will be determined to ensure Hodgson goes out on a high, especially at one of his former clubs.
Liverpool v Crystal Palace head-to-head
Liverpool are on course to qualify for the Champions League due to their goal difference and their previous meeting with Palace will have proved decisive if that remains the case.
Palace have suffered seven straight defeats against the Reds and the biggest of those was in December when Liverpool cruised to a 7-0 win at Selhurst Park thanks to a masterclass in finishing.
With Mohamed Salah only on the bench, Takumi Minamino grabbed his first goal for the Merseysiders before the old guard wrapped up the points in the capital.
Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino added further strikes in the first half, the latter after a slick counter-attack, before four more goals were forthcoming in clinical fashion after the break.
Firmino completed a brace after Jordan Henderson’s curler and Salah was able to net a double during a 33-minute cameo.
Crystal Palace: Guaita, Ward, Tomkins, Cahill, Mitchell, Kouyate, Townsend, Schlupp, McCarthy, Zaha, Benteke.
Palace’s defenders know all about the threat of Salah, who has scored five goals in his last three appearances against the Eagles.
The Egyptian is level with fellow Golden Boot hopeful Harry Kane on 22 goals and this looks a good opportunity to outscore his Tottenham rival.
Palace’s Christian Benteke is the form striker, though, having netted in each of his last four appearances, and the former Liverpool man is 10/3 to extend that run.
