Lorenzo Insigne to Spurs or Liverpool?
Serie A side Napoli have apparently slapped a £44m price tag on Italy international Lorenzo Insigne, with Tottenham and Liverpool said to be lurking after rumours of wage wrangling.
The 25-year-old’s current contract runs until 2019, so he will not come cheap to the Premier League. An adaptable attacker, able to play on the wing or behind a striker, Insigne was an inspiration for the Naples outfit last campaign with 13 goals in all competitions, and is actually a youth product of the Campania club.
Spurs circling the Italian makes sense, though the sum seem a bit steep for the English capital club, as Mauricio Pochettino seeks more attacking spark in his side.
With a stern defence and a goal machine in Harry Kane, Tottenham are only missing a few puzzles pieces to be real Premier League title contenders. A winter window blockbuster transfer could be just the tonic Tottenham need to aid Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and co.
As for Liverpool, do the Reds really require another attack-minded midfielder? Insigne would slot straight into Jurgen Klopp’s system but it could be a case of too many cooks.
Arsenal after Kostas Manolas transfer
Sticking with north London, the Gunners aren’t left out of the gossip this morning either with Arsenal after the transfer of Kostas Manolas.
The Greece and Roma centre back has reportedly rebuffed more contract talks in the Italian capital, and could be flogged, after the clause which entitled former club Olympiakos 50 per cent of any sell-on fee is believed to have expired.
Though, Arsene Wenger may face competition from Barcelona, who are also said to be tracking the Greek defender and seeking to refresh their increasingly wobbly rearguard.
While, in more Gunners gossip, wingman Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is yet another prominent player linked with an Emirates exit. With injury niggles having disrupted his career, and further game time reportedly on the England international’s mind, La Liga giants Sevilla and Valencia are two mooted options for a great escape.
