Preview and odds for Sunday’s match

The curtain finally comes down on Sheffield United’s dismal campaign this weekend but the visit of Burnley offers them the chance to at least end it on a high.

The Blades have only picked up 20 points and relegation was confirmed a long time ago while Burnley are just one place above the drop zone, although they are 11 points clear of Fulham.

Sunday’s match is live on BT Sport and kicks off at 4pm as we highlight a few potential Sheffield United v Burnley betting tips.

Sheffield United v Burnley match odds

Sheffield United have won the most matches of the teams heading back to the Championship, with six victories compared to the five of Fulham and West Brom.

The South Yorkshire side have been far too easy to beat, though, losing 29 games and managing just two draws.

Recent wins against Brighton and Everton have restored some pride but they were beaten 1-0 at Newcastle in midweek.

United are 15/8 for victory on Sunday while under 1.5 goals could be of interest at 3/1, having paid out in four of their last six games.

Incredibly there have only been goals at both ends in one of their last 13 matches yet ‘no’ is available at 13/10 in the both teams to score market.

Burnley have beaten Wolves (4-0) and Fulham (2-0) in their last two away games and are 7/5 to make it three in a row at Bramall Lane.

They have kept clean sheets in five of their six away wins so a Burnley win to nil may be of interest at 15/4.

James Tarkowski, Burnley

Sheffield United v Burnley head-to-head

This is only the fourth time the teams have met in the Premier League, with honours even so far.

Burnley were thrashed 3-0 at Bramall Lane last season when all the goals were scored in the first half, with John Lundstram bagging a brace.

John Egan grabbed a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Burnley but the Clarets came out on top in Lancashire in December when Ben Mee netted the only goal.

Previous XI

Sheffield United vs Burnley - Football tactics and formations
Sheffield United: Ramsdale, Stevens, Basham, Egan, Robinson, Bogle, Fleck, Norwood, Osborn, Jebbison, McGoldrick.

Burnley: Norris, Lowton, Taylor, Tarkowski, Mee, Cork, Gudmundsson, Brownhill, McNeil, Westwood, Wood.

Key battles

United midfielder Oliver Norwood has failed to have the same impact as he did last season, although the same could be said for pretty much all of the squad.

He will be hoping to end the season on a high at least as he comes up against his hometown club.

Ashley Westwood and Jack Cork will be key to limiting Norwood’s time on the ball while this is one last chance for Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski to impress before Gareth Southgate names his England squad for Euro 2020 next week.
