Ayr preview: Firth Of Clyde Stakes (14.00)

Priceless created a huge impression when winning on debut and can take the step up into Group 3 company in her stride to land the Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr (14.00).

The Clive Cox trained filly was sent off 20/1 for a 6f maiden at Haydock but won in the style of an odds-on shot.

After travelling strongly just off the pace, Priceless made smooth headway a furlong from home to take up the running inside the last and quicken clear to score by seven lengths.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel won with any amount in hand, and the turn of pace shown by Priceless suggested she was a very exciting prospect who needed keeping firm onside.

Priceless also looked big and well in the paddock beforehand, and there is little doubt that she will come on significantly for the outing.

Although this requires much more, Priceless can prove up to the task and land the spoils before going on to even better things.

Silhuette is unbeaten in two starts and looks the one most likely to give Priceless plenty to think about.

The Anne Duffield trained filly showed a good attitude when overcoming a slow start to score by a neck on debut at Carlisle, and followed up with a ready 1 1/2 length success over Unilit in a better contest at Ripon.

Silhuette still showed signs on inexperience in the latter, but found plenty inside the final furlong despite hanging right to be well on top at the finish.

It was an effort which suggested there was plenty of improvement left in the locker, and the daughter of Canford Cliffs looks well worth a crack at this level.
