Coral ambassador Jim Crowley hits bookies with York four-timer

CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Our man had a superb day at the Ebor Festival

Coral ambassador Jim Crowley ensured punters had a fantastic Friday at the Ebor Festival with a sensational four-timer.

Crowley almost went five-for-five at York, but Naval Crown controlled the British Stallion Studs EBF Convivial Maiden Stakes, beating Tawleed into second. That result spared the bookmakers from one of their most costly ever days.

“Jim is an ambassador for us, and gives punters his views on his mounts at the big meetings via his written and video blogs, and he was full of confidence in his six Friday rides at York, confidence that paid off immediately when Alfaatik won the opener,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“As that was the least fancied of his six rides, we began to get nervous when he followed it up with victories on favourites Enbihaar and Minzaal, before the banker bet Battaash obliged in the feature Coolmore Nunthorpe. That made it a very costly day for the layers, but it would have gone down in punting folklore if he’d made it five out of five, but for once we happily cheered a Godolphin favourite home, with Naval Crown denying Tawleed,” added Stevens.

“With all four winners live on ITV, it was still a very good day for Jim and his many backers, and fortunately we won’t have to fire him as an ambassador!” concluded Stevens.

He’s on four rides tomorrow, including Jeremiah in the Ebor Handicap.

Battaash is 4/6 with Coral for the Prix de l’Abbaye, while Minzaal is 10/1 for the Commonwealth Cup.
