Latest Coral sponsored Racing Post podcast reviews the weekend action
In the latest edition of the Racing Post podcast “Postcast”, proudly sponsored by Coral, our very own Simon Clare joins Tom Segal (Pricewise), Ed Quigley (Longshot) and Sam Lawrie to reflect on Golden Horn’s brilliant win in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and the rest of the action in France and Britain over the weekend.
The panel discuss the superb tactical ride by Frankie Dettori to steal the show in the Longchamp spectacular, and also the not so brilliant effort by Thierry Jarnet aboard the hat-trick seeking Treve who could finish only fourth in her final race.
There is also a massive eye-catcher from the Arc who Segal believes could be a big contender in the Breeders’ Cup Filly And Mares Turf in Keeneland at the end of the month if making the trip.
Golden Horn is also a possible for the Breeders’ Cup Turf, and Coral have installed the John Gosden trained superstar as their 4/5 favourite, ahead of Arc runner-up Flintshire at 5/2.
The panel believe that Golden Horn has little to lose if allowed to take his chance, but could it be a case of going to the well once too often?
Make Believe, who won the Prix de la Foret in record time on Arc day, is also likely to head to America for the Breeders’ Cup Mile, for which she has been installed as 4/1 favourite with Coral ahead of stable companion Territories (9/2).
The team also look ahead to Future Champions Day at Newmarket in which top juveniles Air Force Blue and Emotionless are due to lock horns in the Dewhurst.
Coral make Emotionless even money favourite for the Group 1 contest, and the colt’s trainer Charlie Appleby discusses how he handled the famous Newmarket dip in a recent gallop at headquarters.
