Latest Coral sponsored Racing Post podcast reviews weekend action
In the latest edition of the Racing Post podcast “Postcast”, proudly sponsored by Coral, our very own John Hill joins Tom Segal, Lee Mottershead and Bruce Millington to discuss the standout performances on Champions Day at Ascot.
Muhaarar’s win in the sprint gets rave reviews from the team, who were also taken by the way in which Solow ground out another Group 1 success in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
How good is Gleneagles?
The panel also put the run of Gleneagles under the spotlight, and the question is raised as to whether the dual Guineas winner is actually as good as everyone thought he was?
Ryan Moore’s ride on Found in the Champion Stakes also comes into close scrutiny after the filly was dropped out miles off the pace before flying home to finish a 1/4 length runner-up to Fascinating Rock.
Did he overdo the waiting tactics? Or did the best horse win on the day?
Is Segal set for Melbourne Cup magic?
As well as reviewing the weekend’s action, the team also look ahead to the Melbourne Cup for which Segal believes there is a lively 16/1 outsider that has “gone under the radar”.
Mottershead also unveils a 50/1 fancy for the 2016 Flat jockeys’ title, and asks whether The New One should have a crack at the World Hurdle at next year’s Cheltenham Festival rather than the Champion Hurdle yet again.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ star hurdler is 12/1 with Coral for the former, and out to 20/1 (froms 16s) for the latter after making a winning reappearance at Kempton.
