Odds and preview of Saturday’s racing
The cold snap has claimed Musselburgh and Wetherby, but the ITV Racing crew are still bringing you racing from Lingfield, Sandown and the Dublin Racing Festival in Leopardstown this afternoon.
With the Cheltenham Festival quickly approaching, connections will want to make sure their horses are in tip-top shape for mid-March.
You’ll find all the big talking points ahead of the action in Dublin right here, but keep reading for our picks from the rest of the ITV racecard…
It’s hard to look beyond Nicky Henderson’s star performer here.
The eight-year-old has won the Contenders Hurdle in each of the last two years before going on to win the Champion Hurdle at The Festival.
And while his 12-race winning streak was ended by Verdana Blue at Kempton last month, his class and experience should see him through this renewal.
Vinndication’s connections stand to learn a lot about the impressive six-year-old in the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase.
Coming off the back of a Grade 2 win at Ascot last month, he’ll be looking to claim a seventh-straight win and his first Grade 1 triumph to boot.
But all of his previous jumps wins have been on soft ground. He should be able to cope in these frosty conditions, though Lostintranslation and Defi Du Seuil will both be pushing hard.
Ballymoy looks the one to watch in the Heroes Handicap Hurdle. With six wins from his last seven starts, Nigel Twiston-Davies’ gelding continues to catch the eye.
The 5lb raise could pose an issue with the likes of Casko D’Airy and Lord Napier around, but he’s shown enough this season to suggest he can bring this home.
