NBA betting tips: Issues still to be decided
Preview and odds for tonight’s matches
The play-offs are on the horizon but there are issues still to be decided and three important matches tonight are the focus for our NBA betting tips.
The regular season ends next week but several teams are still battling to be involved ahead of tonight when there are eight matches in total.
Here we look at the NBA odds for three of the key fixtures.
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Washington Wizards (Sat, 00:10)
The Wizards are 10th in the Eastern Conference but could still pinch eighth place, which could give them more hope of booking a play-off spot through the ‘play-in’ tournament.
They have made life hard for themselves with back-to-back narrow defeats against the Atlanta Hawks, losing by one point on Monday night and four on Wednesday night.
The positive for the Cavs is they beat the Boston Celtics 102-94 last time out and can be backed at 3/1 to follow that up with another win.
The bad news is they had lost 11 in a row before that and have no hope of extending their season.
Orlando Magic @ Philadelphia 76ers (Sat, 01:10)
The Sixers will clinch their first Eastern Conference title in 20 years if they win their final two matches of the regular season, starting at home against the Magic tonight.
They are one win clear of the Brooklyn Nets at the top of the standings but have given their nearest rivals hope by losing their last two games by a combined margin of 21 points.
That will give Orlando some belief but they have lost five in a row to slump to 21-49 for the season and their squad is badly depleted by injuries.
The Magic are 6/1 to overcome those issues and get back to winning ways but in terms of NBA betting tips, backing the winning margin for the Sixers is likely to be a more popular market.
They won 116-92 on the road when these teams last met on New Year’s Eve and another 76ers victory by 21-25 points can be backed at 6/1.
Toronto Raptors @ Dallas Mavericks (Sat, 02:10)
The Mavericks occupy fifth place in the Western Conference but have the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers breathing down their necks if they slip up.
One win from their final two matches will almost certainly guarantee a top-six finish and they are clear favourites to get it tonight at odds of 1/9 before a road trip to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Raptors were champions two years ago but any hope of a repeat ended a long time ago and they are languishing in 12th place in the Eastern Conference.
Backing the Mavericks on the spread looks the way to go and they are 10/11 to win by 14 points or more.
