Lewis Hamilton odds-on to clinch F1 title with Turkish GP win
He’s also on course for BBC SPOTY and a knighthood
Lewis Hamilton is the clear favourite to win this weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix and seal the F1 World Championship.
Hamilton is 4/11 to triumph at Intercity Istanbul Park, which would see him win a fourth-consecutive title and equal Michael Schumacher’s record of seven in total.
The Stevenage-born star doesn’t need to win to secure top spot in the standings – Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas needs to outscore Hamilton by eight or more points to stop him from being crowned this weekend.
“It’s a case of when, not if, now for Lewis Hamilton’s record equalling seventh World Championship but we make him firmly odds on to reach the milestone with victory at the Turkish Grand Prix,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.
There could be further glory for the 35-year-old in the near future too. He’s now the 11/10 frontrunner to be named 2020 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, while our traders have him evens to be knighted by the Queen on the 2021 New Year’s Honours List.
“The recognition is set to come off the track as well as on it, and our betting firmly points to Sir Lewis in the future as well as SPOTY 2020,” added Aitkenhead.
4/11 Lewis Hamilton, 7/2 Valtteri Bottas, 9/2 Max Verstappen
11/10 Lewis Hamilton, 2/1 Marcus Rashford, 6/1 Tyson Fury, 8/1 Ronnie O’Sullivan, 20/1 Joe Wicks, Tom Moore, 33/1 Hollie Doyle, Jordan Henderson, James Anderson, Drew McIntrye
